Mother's Day

Mother's Day was so special this year. Austin took off on Friday and we were able to have a wonderful weekend together as a family. I love spending time with my boys. It's funny but it is hard to imagine my life before Brady was here and before I became a mother. When I think back to when I was younger I remember not always wanting to be a mom. When I was in high school and started thinking about it I always thought kids were brats and I wanted nothing to do with them. When I went off to college I started working at a Mother's Day Out program at a church and worked in a room with 2 year olds. At the end of the day when the moms would come pick up their kiddos I would watch the kids light up and run to their moms yelling "mommy, mommy." It melted my heart and I knew from then on that children were in my future.
When Austin and I started discussing when we wanted kids we decided to wait 5 years before trying. We wanted lots of good quality time together as a couple before bringing another life into our family unit. Turned out to be a great idea because we were able to do a lot of traveling that we would not be able to do with babies. Once we decided to start trying I was so excited. I had very little patience with the "getting pregnant" part. I wanted it to happen right away. Fortunately, 3 months later we were pregnant. We found out the Wednesday before Mother's Day. So this week is special to me for multiple reasons. Nine months later came Brady and life has not been the same since. Even though it has been the hardest thing I have ever done it has been the most rewarding. I love being a mom and I love my sweet baby boy and all the joy he brings to my life. I will never be the same...thank goodness!!!
